Original Item: Only One Available. This is an exceptionally scarce original Chinese Cold War Type 70 62mm rocket launcher round complete with its original matching transport tube. The Type 70 was a lightweight Chinese anti-armor system developed during the Cold War as part of an effort to produce a compact disposable launcher comparable in concept to contemporary Western light anti-tank weapons.

Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are NOT considered NFA weapons. This example is in total compliance and is totally inert. NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT.

The Type 70 was developed during the 1970s and saw only limited service with the People’s Liberation Army. Its development took place during a period when China was producing large numbers of RPG-2 and Type 69 systems while also exploring lighter disposable anti-armor weapons. The Type 70 ultimately remained a limited-production design, and surviving complete examples are correspondingly difficult to locate.

This very rare Chinese Type 70 rocket launcher round in its original issue tube. The rocket retains all six spring-loaded tail fins and is stamped on the side of the body:

62-(Chinese Character)
01-80-5413

The head unscrews from the shaft. The round measures 22” long with the tail fins fully extended. The round fits into its original tube when the tail fins are pushed back up.

The original tube measures 20 ¾” long and is stenciled on the side:

62-(Chinese Character)
01-80-5413

This makes it a fantastic matching set, rare to find! The combination of the matching numbered rocket and tube, six complete spring-loaded fins, removable warhead, surviving Chinese markings, and scarce Type 70 configuration makes this an unusually complete example of Cold War Chinese anti-armor ordnance. This is the first example we have been able to offer and represents a very scarce piece of People’s Liberation Army weapons development.
