Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent original Canadian WWII MkII steel helmet manufactured by the Canadian Motor Lamp Company of Windsor, Ontario in 1942, fitted with a matching-period 1942 Viceroy Manufacturing Co. liner in size 7¼, a securely fitted helmet net, and an original Australian-made First Field Dressing dated July 1942. The combination of Canadian and Australian wartime components gives the helmet a particularly strong Commonwealth character.
The shell is stamped C. L. / C 1942 for 1942 manufacture by the Canadian Motorlamp Company of Windsor Ontario. Fitted to the shell is a single-tone helmet net which is well-secured.
The liner is stamped:
7 1/4
V.M.C.
II
1942
V.M.C. denotes manufacture by the Viceroy Manufacturing Co of Toronto, Canada. The liner has some stiffening but the chinstrap is retained in good order, stretched taut over the front brim.
Attached within the net is a clearly marked First Field Dressing, dated July 1942 and produced by Johnson & Johnson Pty. of Australia. During World War II, Johnson & Johnson Pty Ltd in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, served as a major wartime manufacturer of medical and first-aid supplies for the war effort.
The combination of the C.L./C 1942 Canadian Motor Lamp shell, V.M.C. II 1942 size 7¼ liner, surviving chinstrap, securely fitted helmet net, and July 1942 Australian Johnson & Johnson First Field Dressing makes this a particularly complete and visually strong Canadian WWII helmet. The slight liner stiffening is the principal condition issue, while the clearly dated shell, liner, and field dressing provide excellent wartime documentation.
