This is an excellent representative Canadian WWII Army display consisting of a 1945-dated Battledress blouse and trousers together with a complete-style Pattern 1937 web equipment rig assembled from both wartime and postwar components. The uniform itself remains in especially nice condition and provides a strong foundation for a Canadian WWII field display.

The Battledress jacket is void of exterior insignia but is in great unissued condition, and is marked on the interior:

    B 450 Blouses
    Battledress
    Serge
    Size No. 4
    Height 5’5” to -5’-6”
    Breast 34 to 35
    FEB 1945
    THE T. EATON CO. LTD.
    OF MONTREAL
    1945
    MONTREAL FACTORY

The trousers are stamped on the interior:

    BATTLEDRESS
    TROUSERS SERGE

    SIZE…

The trouser size markings are heavily faded as shown. The trousers retain the suspenders and have a great look. The uniform is free of any serious damage and is a very nice representative set.

The P37 field gear set consists of the suspenders, belt, two ammunition pouches, canteen, and Lee Enfield spike bayonet in sheath and frog.

Pattern 1937 web equipment was the standard British and Commonwealth load-carrying system throughout WWII and remained in service for many years afterward. Canadian troops used the system extensively, and postwar manufacture followed the same general pattern, making mixed wartime and later sets common in surviving collections.

The combination of the February 1945 T. Eaton Co. Ltd. Battledress blouse, matching-style Serge trousers with retained suspenders, and complete-style P37 web equipment rig with canteen, ammunition pouches, and spike bayonet makes this a very strong representative Canadian Army display. The field gear should be understood as an assembled mixture of wartime and postwar pieces, while the dated uniform itself remains the historical centerpiece of the set.
