Original Canadian WWI Medal & Badge Group to Canadian Motor Machine Gunner Who Joined RAF at End of War - Wylie Burke Saunders

Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is an outstanding medal and insignia grouping identified to Wylie Burke Saunders, a Canadian from Nova Scotia who enlisted on September 26th, 1914, being assigned to the 1st Motor Machine Gun Brigade, CEF. Sometime in 1918, he joined the Royal Air Force and trained as a flight cadet, which is what his rank was when issued these medals. Both the Victory and War medals are rim-engraved 360550. F-CADET. W.B. SAUNDERS. R.A.F..
The group includes:
- Three-place medal bar with 1914-15 Star, War Medal, and Victory Medal. Two of them are rim-engraved.
- Pair of EXTREMELY RARE Canadian 1st Motor Machine Gun Brigade badges, worth very much on their own.
- Royal Air Force Officer’s cap badge, great shape with some edge mothing.
- Pair of Canadian Air Force badges with cloth backing.
- Pair of CANADA collar tabs.
- Uniform service stripe set, three blue and one red. A red chevron signifies the soldier first went overseas on or before December 31, 1914, while blue chevrons represent subsequent full years of overseas service.
- CEF “For Service at the Front” pin.
- GWV pin, Sterling.
Interestingly, after the war was over, Saunders would eventually immigrate into the United States in 1928, settling in Framingham, Massachusetts.
