Original Item. Only One Available. This is a good service worn Canadian RT-5010 / PRC-510 manpack receiver-transmitter manufactured by Addison Industries in 1955. The radio retains its original data plate and is accompanied by a U.S. manufactured ST-120A/PR carrying harness, two antennas, and a later U.S. H-33F/PT handset. The accessories are suitable for display but are not all compatible with the Canadian radio.

This equipment has not been tested by IMA, and no guarantee is made regarding its operation. The radio and accessories are offered strictly as historic display and collection pieces.

The RT-5010 / PRC-510 was a Canadian development of the American AN/PRC-10 family of portable VHF tactical radios. It covered a frequency range of approximately 38 Mc/s to 54.9 Mc/s. The Canadian version can be distinguished externally by its more finely graduated tuning dial, altered antenna connector block, and an additional audio connector on the right side of the front panel.

Internally, the design was related to the PRC-10A but incorporated several Canadian modifications, including a different discriminator transformer, an additional pulse-sweep generator, and a single calibration oscillator.

The harness is a period U.S. military pattern associated with the PRC family of manpack radios. Although suitable for display with this set, its loose fit and U.S. markings indicate that it was not necessarily original to this Canadian receiver-transmitter. The shoulder straps are not connected to anything so the set will not work as a backpack. The harness retains both the long collapsible and bendable antennas, and the long antenna still screws into the mount on the top of the radio. The flexible antenna was not able to screw in.

Also in the harness is an original U.S. handset, but as it is U.S. made, it will not attach to the radio and is only included for display. The handset is marked:

The 82 contract date indicates that the handset was produced under a 1982 order and is much later than the 1955 radio.

The RT-5010 / PRC-510 was intended to provide short-range voice communications for infantry and other tactical units. Like the related PRC-10, it was a substantial vacuum-tube radio designed to be carried on the operator’s back or installed in a vehicle.

The clear Addison Industries data plate, 1955 date, serial number 1594, U.S. ST-120A/PR harness, retained antennas, and later H-33F/PT handset form a visually complete Cold War radio display. The untested condition, loose harness, incompatible flexible antenna, and nonconnecting 1982 handset are important limitations, but the Canadian receiver-transmitter itself remains a well identified example of mid-1950s military communications equipment.
