Original Item. Only One Lot Available. This is a very interesting group of original Fort Henry Guard insignia and uniform components from Kingston, Ontario, including a Fort Henry Guard cap badge, three Royal Horse Artillery buttons, three F.H.G. buttons, and a pair of white single chevrons.
The Fort Henry Guard, established in 1938 at Fort Henry in Kingston, Ontario, is a historical interpretation and exhibition drill organization devoted to presenting British military life and drill traditions of the Victorian period. Its uniforms and demonstrations are based broadly on the British infantry and Royal Artillery traditions associated with the fort during the 19th century rather than representing a single specific regiment.
This is a good lot of insignia worn by the Fort Henry Guard, including:
- FHG hat badge with star under crown and FHG in center with belt bearing Latin quote HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE or "Shame on him who thinks ill of it". Retains both screw nuts.
- Three Royal Horse Artillery buttons, two marked WILLIAM SCULLY on the back.
- Three F.H.G. buttons, two big and one small. One marked WILLIAM SCULLY on back.
- Two white single chevrons, well-stitched. 7 ¾ x 3”.
The combination of the FHG cap badge, Royal Horse Artillery buttons, Fort Henry Guard buttons, William Scully maker markings, and matching white chevrons makes this a very appealing group of Canadian historical interpretation insignia. Together, the pieces provide a strong representative display connected with one of Canada’s longest-running military heritage organizations.
