This is a very rare, completely inert Bulgarian OG-7 40mm rocket for the RPG-7 launcher, retaining its original green cardboard transport tube covering the tail assembly. Completely BATF compliant and inert, this display piece is not considered an NFA weapon and is not available for export.

The OG-7 is a 40 mm high-explosive fragmentation (HE-FRAG) rocket projectile designed for use with the RPG-7 launcher. Unlike the more common PG-7 series, which are anti-tank shaped-charge rounds, the OG-7 was developed primarily as an anti-personnel and light materiel projectile.

The RPG-7 (Ruchnoy Protivotankoviy Granatomyot – "Hand-Held Anti-Tank Grenade Launcher") was developed by the Soviet Union as the successor to the earlier RPG-2 and became one of the most widely produced and recognizable shoulder-fired weapons in military history. Simple, reliable, and inexpensive to manufacture, the RPG-7 has been produced by numerous Warsaw Pact nations, including Bulgaria, and has seen service around the world since its introduction in the early 1960s.

This example is an original Bulgarian-manufactured OG-7 40mm rocket and retains its uncommon green cardboard transport tube over the tail section. The tube is removable but requires some force to do so. The tube is stamped with the following markings:

The 6/86 marking may indicate a manufacture date of June 1986.

The bakelite fuze is marked 87-77 M-6 and retains its original protective cap complete with the attached pull strap bearing printed instructions. The tail assembly shaft is additionally stamped:

Without the cardboard transport tube, the rocket measures approximately 22½ inches in overall length.

Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery projectiles, and similar ordnance that have been permanently rendered inert through BATF-approved methods, including drilling or cutting to prevent their use as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not classified as NFA weapons. This example has been deactivated in accordance with those requirements and is offered strictly as a collectible display piece.

Original inert RPG-7 projectiles have become increasingly difficult to obtain, particularly examples that retain their original transport tube, protective fuze cap, and factory markings. As the first example of this type that we have offered, it represents an outstanding addition to any Cold War, Warsaw Pact, or military ordnance collection.
