Original Item. Only One Available. "Mills bomb" is the popular name for a series of British hand grenades which were designed by William Mills. They were the first modern fragmentation grenades used by the British Army and saw widespread use in the First and Second World Wars.
This is an outstanding 1943-dated crate for the storage of 12 Mills hand grenades. The side of the crate reads:

The crate retains the lid and its carrying handles which are rope and now weak. The fuze can inside has markings dating it to 1944. The crate measures 22 x 6 ½ x 6”.
