Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely WW2 issue 20 1/4 x 23 1/4” Silk Escape Map issued to Allied flight crews in WW2, especially to pilots of the Royal Air Force, or RAF. These maps were often sewn into the linings of uniforms to escape detection in the event of being shot down over enemy territory and falling into hostile hands.
Constructed of silk or muslin to withstand water damage and tearing, each map has a reinforced rubber layer along the edges to prevent fraying. This map covers Spain and Portugal, with one side showing the East and the other side showing the West.
There is tearing and heavy folding, with holes from being hung in the corners.
