Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely WWII British poster depicting 10 different aircraft of the Royal Air Force, meant to help citizens in recognizing British aircraft as opposed to German aircraft. Similar posters with German aircraft were also produced for recognition purposes. The poster has descriptions with each plane, and there’s also a map & key at the bottom depicting the ranges of each type of aircraft.
The poster measures 20 x 30” and is really tremendous, this is the first original example of this poster we have seen, as it is very heavily reproduced. The aircraft featured include the Whitley, Havoc, Tomahawk, Martlet, Maryland, Hudson, Liberator, and Catalina.
The bottom of the poster reads Printed for H.M. Stationary Office by FOSH & CROSS LTD., LONDON 51-2286.
The poster has some damage as shown including some rips along the left, right, and bottom edges. Otherwise, it is in great condition and is a fantastic specimen. A good candidate for framing. Comes ready for further research and display.
