Original British WWII 1942-Dated Slouch Hat with Royal Army Service Corps Badge & Flash - Size 7⅝ - As Worn by Chindits

Original Item. Only One Available. The Chindits, officially as Long Range Penetration Groups, were special operations units of the British and Indian armies which saw action in 1943–1944 during the Burma Campaign of World War II. The British Army Brigadier Orde Wingate formed the Chindits for raiding operations against the Imperial Japanese Army, especially long-range penetration, attacking Japanese troops, facilities and lines of communication deep behind Japanese lines.
This is a gorgeous 1942-dated example of a British slouch hat with a badge & ribbon for the Royal Army Service Corps. The left side of the hat has a lovely metal Royal Army Service Corps badge, with the corresponding “Flash” ribbon behind it.
The Slouch Hat itself is in very nice condition, and still has the original khaki cloth headband around the circumference of the hat, which is topped with the same colors of the flash. It has original ventilation holes on both sides at the edge of the crown. The hat has its original leather sweatband which is clearly stamped:

The sweatband is losing some of its stitching so it is rather fragile. The chinstrap is also well-retained, something we almost never see. The cap definitely does show use, but is still in solid condition. There is a good bit of mothing on the top just under the trim band and the crown, and the leather liner definitely shows staining and use.
A solid example of a very hard to find hat, WWII dated and with a great cap badge. Ready to display!
