Original British WWI Trench Lantern- Maker Marked and Dated 1916

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is most compelling when seen in person. A true barn find in England after almost 100 years of neglect this is the real thing!

A most attractive oil lamp with brass burner surmounting its’ small oil tank which can be removed from the interior of the lantern for cleaning and service. Interestingly, and unusually, there is a provision for holding a candle right next to the burner should lamp oil not be available.

The Lantern has four flat glazed panes inside a circular cage of twisted wire with a hinged top. Very fain and barely legible is the maker's name and address, virtually and the date of 1916. The lantern comes complete with it wood mounted wire carrying handle and appears totally complete in all other respects including a wick that looks ready for use.

This is a most compelling memento of trench warfare that saw service in the Great War.
