Item Description
Original Item. One Only. This is a truly great example of a three draw British WW1 Artillery Telescope, still with the original markings on the tube by the eyepiece:
TEL. SIG. (Mk. IV) ALSO G. S.
R. & J. BECK. LTD.
LONDON
1915
NO. 15009
Fully opened with extended sun shield, this telescope is 36" overall and just 10 1/2" when closed. Optics appear to be clear, but we do not have long enough line of sight to check. The barrel is clad in matured rich brown leather with most of the stitching intact. The telescope also comes with its original two piece leather carrier in the same rich colored leather, complete with a pouch holding the HIGH power eyepiece. The LOW power eyepiece is currently installed on the telescope, and the lens covers on both eyepieces are present and functional. The only piece missing is the leather shoulder strap that links all parts together, so it is lucky that they have stayed together.
A splendid clear example in wonderful condition, ready for further research and display.
