This British WWI Royal Flying Corps Sweetheart Set is made up of a very attractive carved jewelry box keepsake box, along with a hand embroidered wallet.
The top of the Jewelry box has a mounted large Royal Fling Corps R F C gold bullion embroidered badge, which has a great look. It does have a lot of dust from years of sitting out, which we did not attempt to clean off, to avoid any damage to the badge.
The box measures approximately 6 1/2"W x 5"D x 3 1/4"H, with an interior depth of about 1 1/4". The interior looks like it was once lined, but now is just bare wood. The box has a rather ingenious locking mechanism, where a hook actuated by sliding the body of the box forward locks the lid closed. To open the box, the body of the box slides back and moves the hook. Definitely a well engineered box!
The hand embroidered padded fabric wallet measures 5 1/4" x 3 5/8" folded over, and has a button and loop to hold it closed. It looks to be a type of simple bill fold, and is made from silk or satin with padding inside. The front has been hand embroidered with the emblem of the Royal Flying Corps, as well as some floral designs, with a stitched on border. Condition of the wallet is good, though it shows wear and does have splitting tears in the exterior fabric, as shown.

The Royal Flying Corps was Britain's Air Force's title during the First World War. It only became known as the "Royal Air Force" on April 1st, 1918, not long before the war ended on November 11th 1918.
