Original British WWI D-Shape Mess Kit Tin with Rare Canvas Cover

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a scarce example of a WWI British D-Shaped mess kit with its original canvas cover. The Mess Tin is two parts and made of tin plated steel with a seam down one side and with a wire carrying handle. There is a retractable handle in the lid for use as a pan.
This example is not maker-marked that we can find, but is stamped on the lid 2/3 L ERE 32, a possible unit marking. The mess kit measures roughly 7 x 4½ x 4½. The canvas cover is in good shape with its securing button and two belt loops still retained.
