Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice Original British WORLD WAR ONE era Union Jack Flag, measuring approximately 60" X 34". The flag header is marked with a BROAD ARROW stamped together with a Maker's mark of J.&S. and DATED 1916. There are also the letters R N stamped on the flag, though we do not know if this represents Royal Navy use. The flag appears free of Moth or other damage, though it definitely could use a good ironing, as it is creased from poor folding. The flag still has its original top and bottom cast brass grommet hooks for attachment.
These were often erected directly behind the British front lines/trenches for morale purposes and in the hopes of avoiding friendly fire. Good quality cotton with slight color staining. Over 100 years old and ready to display with a great size for wall display!
