High quality rich Brown leather Sam Browne Belt assembly complete with cross strap, with dedicated pocket for whistle. The whistle is present permanently attached to a leather strap and housed in its own tubular pocket. The whistle is marked:- THE CITY POLICE OR FIRE WHISTLE / PATENT. The Set is completed with its matching brown leather binocular case with unreadable maker's name on the under side, which contains a period pair of leather covered Field Glasses. The field glasses are in excellent condition, with clear optics and smooth focus.
This is Almost certainly a "Private Purchase" set for some young Lieutenant starting out in the Trenches, his whistle at the ready for signalling his troops to follow him "OVER THE TOP". Absolute madness.
