Original British Victorian Royal Fusiliers Officer Tunic Set - Circa 1885

Item Description

Original Items: Only one set available. Raised in 1685 The Royal Fusiliers is one of the oldest Regiments in the British Army. It saw extensive service in Canada at the Battle of Quebec in 1775 and transferred to New York just before the American War for Independence. It fought at The Battle of Monmouth in 1778, it occupied both Philadelphia and New York City before taking part in the siege of Charleston in 1779. It took part in the Battle of the Cowpens and the Battle of the Guildford Court House in 1781. The regiment took part in the Peninsula War under Arthur Wellesley, later the Duke of Wellington in 1809-1812 fighting Napoleon Bonaparte.

This lovely officer's tunic set is from a Lieutenant dating from approximately 1885 showing Queen's Crown on all buttons with gold braid on the epaulettes, collar and cuffs. The tunic includes a red and gold Officer's waist sword belt and also the original red and gold officer's cross shoulder sash.

Offered in remarkably good condition for over 130 years of age!
