  • Original Item: One of a Kind. Once again from our great Optics purchase of earlier in 2018 in England here we have a magnificent VICTORIAN four draw brass telescope with a wooden barrel and detachable front lens cover. There also was a eyepiece lens cover, but the small pin for moving it is missing. The telescope measures 44 1/2" in overall length when extended and shrinks to only 12" in length when collapsed. Excellent image despite one edge crack in the front lens.

The rear brass barrel near the eyepiece is engraved with the maker information:

    A. Galletti
    Glasgow
    Warranted

Nearby, it is engraved with the name of the owner:

    COL. SIR ALEXr. MACDONELL.

From our research, we know that Col. Sir Alexander Macdonell had served in the EGYPTIAN Campaign in 1882.

A very nice quality telescope purchased in Scotland by a Scottish Officer. Ready to display.
