  • Original Items. Only One Lot Available. A baton (also truncheon, nightstick, billy club, billystick, cosh, lathi, or simply stick) is a roughly cylindrical club made of wood, rubber, plastic, or metal. It is carried as a compliance tool and defensive weapon by law-enforcement officers, correctional staff, security guards and military personnel. The name baton comes from the French bâton (stick), derived from Old French Baston, from Latin bastum.

This is a lovely lot of three truncheons dating from the 1890s to the 1940s. They include:

    - 10 ¼” wooden truncheon with heavy wear and chipping to wood on the handle. There is an old canvas strap through the hole in the center, meant for wrist wear.
    - Roughly 24” truncheon with small brass tag in center reading 4114 over the carved named KULIS. Newer-added string in hole for wrist wear. Great still usable example.
    - 21 ⅜” wooden truncheon with original leather braided strap. Handle is well-carved and this example shows great period use. The strap shows crazing and some cracking.

A good lot of truncheons, ready for display.
