Original British Tower Marked Third Model Brown Bess Musket

Item Description

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a very nice British third model Brown Bess musket dating from between 1797-1805. It features a classic 39" barrel in .75" caliber with English proof marks and a square tang. The lock is marked TOWER with CROWN over G.R. The fine walnut wood stock with a banister rail has full brass furniture and brass butt plate. Indicating that this was n early third model Brown Bess example as the hand rail butt stock was done away with after 1807.

Shows use around touch hole otherwise in amazingly tight and clean condition. This is the musket the British used to fight the French after the French Revolution, the American War of 1812 and finally to rout Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. It was officially replaced in 1839 with the same musket converted to percussion and later manufactured in percussion.

This is a classic English made example of the Third Model Brown Bess Musket offered in wonderful condition.
