  • Original item: One of a Kind. This could be either a Page Turner or a Letter opener, your choice. This is a brass bladed instrument with a 9" blade and a 12" grip from the horn of a Goat, which the regiment kept, but did not label a "mascot". It was simply a "regimental goat" and the tradition dated back to at least 1775, and possibly to the regiment's formation. The goat was always named 'Billy'.

It is engraved on the blade :-

    Presented to
    THE ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS
    By Her Majesty Queen Victoria
    1884

On the other side of the blade it is engraved:-

    Gwilm
    FROM THE ROYAL HERD

Totally impractical, but nevertheless something to use an old Goat horn for. A treasured Regimental artifact, ready to display!
