Original British Pre-WWI P-1908 E.R.VII Marked Nickel Plated Other Ranks Parade Sword with Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Complete with its steel Nickel plated scabbard, this example is considered a "Parade Sword", the sword itself also completely nickel plated on every steel surface. In combat the guard was often plated green or brown so as not to reflect the light and a brown scabbard was used for the same reason. The Pattern of 1908 Sword was part of the basis for the U.S. "Patton Saber", and this is an "Other Ranks" version, worn by Enlisted men and NCOs.

The bowl of the guard is all engraved decoratively around the Royal Cypher of King Edward the 7th, an intertwined E R with VII at the bottom. This same cypher is also etched into the blade. The son and successor of Queen Victoria, Edward VII reigned 22 January 1901 – 6 May 1910.

Features an engraved blade that extends half the length of the blade, with a fuller that extends nearly ¾ the length of the blade. The ricasso has the usual six sided star with a  brass PROVED plug in the center. Blade is very clean with only slight wear and just a touch of flaking of the plating near the tip.

The grip is textured leather faux Shark skin and shows little wear; the wires are complete but frayed in a spot or two. Handguard has aged wear but no patina or serious rust. Buffer pad in complete as well.
