Original Item: One Only. In lovely matured condition this measures 21 inches in overall length and dates to the Reign of William IV as indicated by the painted near the top, IV WR. Painted truncheons are rare, as after 1900 the decorative painting was abandoned, however the Bobby on the beat in England even today carries a wood truncheon in a specially designed inside pocket in his uniform trousers.
This example is painted in a lovely sea green, with a ring at the top for attachment to the Bobby’s belt. Near the top is painted IV WR for IV William Rex, denoting the reign of William IV which lasted from 1830-1837, making this a very early example, the earliest we have had.
The truncheon is in great condition with the only damage being a few woodworm holes. A great addition to any Bobby Police collection, ready to display!
