  • Original Item: Few Available. We have just received a small delivery of these hard to find British WWII P-1943 MkII* Bayonets for the No.1 MkIII Enfield rifle, often called the SHT.LE, SMLE, S.M.L.E., "Smelly" etc. Commonly known as the "JUNGLE FIGHTING" Bayonet, not to be confused with the Jungle Carbine Bayonet, this essentially was the original P-1907 long S.L.M.E. bayonet made with a 12" unfullered blade rather than a 17" fullered one.

Made in India during WW2 all have supporting markings on the blade. The 17" bladed Bayonets were deemed TOO LONG for Jungle War fare so this was the answer. One year later the P-1944 MkIII* Bayonet followed, but this model had a Squared Pommel which reduced machine time considerably.

In wonderful condition having been released from long term Military Storage in 1978. Each comes without a scabbard. Once plentiful these are now hard to find in such good condition. Expect the usual service wear, surface rust, staining and chips in the wood grip scales, but nothing too severe.

Comes more than ready for further research and display.

    Specifications:

    Blade Style: Single Edge
