Item Description
Original item: Only One Available. This is for the Officer who always went to War fully prepared. This fine field cooking set comes very possibly from the Victorian ZULU WARS of the late 1870's, the Sudanese Wars of 1885 and 1898, the Boer war War of 1899/1901 or even the First Word War.
The set itself is unmarked, but the carrier has maker information (somewhat faded) in gold letters on the inside of the carrier lid:
A.BARRETT & SONS
PICCADILLY
LONDON
The set is beautifully made from nickel-fitted copper, which has faded to a lovely deep orange color. It consists of a quart size cooking pot, complete with its own original lid in which one could make stew, porridge or even just Coffee. The pot is fitted with a reverse screw-on handle, and is complete with burner with cap under which there is a wick, and a separate stacking can for addition fuel. All of this stacks away together and fits into its original round leather carry case. The lid of the leather case marked with initials of :- D.E.H.
A bit of research and maybe this Officer could even be identified. Lovely deep copper color with nickel plated interior. A set of high quality Campaign cookware, ready to use or to display!
