Original British Napoleonic Wars Tower Marked P-1800 Baker Flintlock Rifle - Circa 1805

Original Item: Only One Available. This is one of the best examples of a Baker Rifle that company director Christian Cranmer has seen in his 50 years in this business, both here an in England. It is a great English Classic immortalized by BERNARD CORNWELL in his wonderful series of SHARPE Novels. See BRITISH MILITARY FIREARMS by Howard Blackmore Page 125, 2nd from the left in the photo.
Our example is just great, it is all brass mounted, a wonderful walnut stock which comes up to the muzzle which terminates with a brass nose cap. The butt has the brass expected patch box and the intricate trigger guard has the brass rear extension to mimic a pistol grip. There are just two ramrod pipes, there never was a throat pipe and the button headed original ramrod is still present.
The just over 30 1/2" Barrel retains its original flip back sight and British Birmingham markings of the CROWN / CROSSED SCEPTERS / BPC proof mark and CROWN / CROSSED SCEPTERS / V "Viewed" marking. The flintlock mechanism has the correct CROWN over G.R. with TOWER across the tail. Under the pan is the CROWN / DOWNWARD ARROW "Lock viewer's mark".
Condition is just great, and quite appealing, with the spiral forging lines in the barrel clearly visible. The bore still shows clear seven groove rifling, even after all this years, with some fouling and light corrosion overall.
As stated this is one of the most appealing and best condition true Baker Rifles we have ever seen!
