Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is the regulation British Dragoon Pistol in use after 1810, known as the NEW LAND Pattern. It includes a "trapped" swivel ramrod of all steel allowing the Cavalryman to reload whilst on horseback without fear of dropping his ram rod. It comes with a standard 9" barrel in .67 caliber smooth bore, and has all brass mounts of butt cap, trigger guard, side plate, and nose cap.
The lock is marked with Crown over G.R. and TOWER on the lock plate tail. It also has traces of the original barrel proofs on the left side of the breech. It has its original Walnut wood stock showing only small age cracks to the front right hand side. The stock is also quite figured, making it a very lovely example. The lock functions correctly, holding at half cock and firing at full.
This was the type of DRAGOON PISTOL USED BY WELLINGTON'S CAVALRY AT WATERLOO IN 1815! Out of the attic, an uncleaned "SLEEPER", probably originating from one of the Tower of London's Sales in the 1970's via Sotheby's or Christie's auction houses.
Well worth researching and cleaning. UNTOUCHED for decades. A nice honest, tight example, ready to display!
