  • Original Items: One of a Kind. Here we have a most attractive Napoleonic / Georgian era British naval leather water bucket for "sponging" out the bores of cannons after firing. This was necessary to make sure that any burning remnants / embers were extinguished prior to reloading the cannon for the next round. It features lovely leather with copper rivet construction, measuring 11" inches tall and 9" across the brim. Beautifully painted with a G R on either side of crown color illustration over numeral 26. This probably represented the gun station it was used at.

The bucket is plainly very old, circa 1800. Comes complete with leather strap handle. The paintwork is possibly refreshed but presents wonderfully.
