  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely British Napoleonic era flintlock vest pocket pistol, which features some fantastic "stand of arms" engraving on both sides of the "boxlock" action. It features a top mounted cocking piece, with an overall length of 7", and flat-sided wooden grip. We were not able to find any markings whatsoever on the pistol, however the style of manufacture and "ring neck" cocking piece definitely points to British manufacture. It has seen a good amount of cleaning, which probably wore away the original proof marks.

The pistol features an all iron frame with a turn off 2" smoothbored barrel in approximately 0.49" caliber, definitely a substantial size for pocket pistol! Unfortunately as with most we see, the barrel joint is frozen, and we did not want to risk damaging it. The action functions beautifully, holding at half cock and firing only at full, and it is nice an solid, without any slop in the action. The flat-sided wooden grip is in very good shape with a lovely color, though it does look like there are some repairs on the bottom by the rear of the action. The metalwork has a lovely aged patina, with some evidence of light past peppering, and the engraving on the frame is very well retained.

A lovely example, ready to display!
