Original Item: One Only. This is a very good original WWII British Indian Army Mk II pattern Gurkha kukri, manufactured by Qeyoom Brothers and dated 1944, complete with its leather scabbard and custom belt attachment. The knife has a substantial 13 1/4” forward-curving blade, full-width tang construction, and original wood grip, and remains a strong representative example of the kukris manufactured for British and Commonwealth military use during WWII.
The kukri is one of the most recognizable edged weapons associated with the British Indian Army and the Gurkha regiments recruited from Nepal. Long before British adoption, the kukri was already an established Nepalese cutting tool and weapon. Under British service it became both a practical field implement and a distinctive part of Gurkha military equipment.
These examples were produced in India, Nepal, and Pakistan under British Contracts for the War effort, and are very hard to find on the market today.
This example is in very good condition, and is maker marked and dated on the blade:

This example has a 13 1/4 inch blade, and an overall length of 17 ¾ inches. The blade is in fair condition, though it definitely did see service and has some small nicks and chips, as well as oxidation. The wooden grip is in good condition, with some chips near the pommel and dents, and one repaired chip at the pommel. As with other MkII Kukris, this example has a full length and width blade tang, which significantly increased the durability of the kukri when compared to the small partial tang earlier versions had.
The custom hard leather scabbard is in good condition with an interesting emblem attached at the side. There is a custom leather belt attachment with straps, but it is very worn and some straps are torn.
Its strongest features are the clear QEYOOM BROS. / 1944 blade marking, substantial Mk II military construction, original wooden grip, and surviving leather scabbard. Together they make this a particularly appealing example of British Indian wartime kukri production and a useful addition to a collection focused on Gurkha equipment, British Commonwealth edged weapons, or WWII South Asian military manufacture.
