Item Description
Original item: Only One available. This is a totally standard British Naval Flintlock long Sea Service pistol dating from about 1764-1769.
The lock is marked with a Crown over "G.R." with "TOWER" across the lock's tail. It is complete with all brass mounts and ramrod is present, as is the belt hook. This is an earlier model than usually encountered, as the powder pan does NOT have reinforcing arm that supports the outside of the frizzen. Before 1764 the locks were dated with a contractor's name and after 1769 the outside frizzen reinforcement supporting bar was introduced. This model saw service all through the Revolutionary War and the great Sea Battles with the French right up until the Battle of TRAFALGAR in 1805. Overall length of pistol is approximately 19 inches, with a 12 inch barrel.
A nice early British long Sea Service Flintlock Pistol with proof markings.
