Original British East India Company Massive 10 Bore Flintlock Wall Gun by Brander of London - dated 1778

Item Description

Original Item. One of a Kind. This is best described as an over ground 2ND Model BROWN BESS MUSKET. It has a very substantial 44 inch long barrel, that measures just under 20mm in bore, which corresponds to about a 10 bore. At 60 inches in overall length, this is quite the beast of a gun!

It features all brass mounts, including a "tailed" side plate, early butt plate, trigger guard and three brass ramrod pipes. The flintlock ignition system marked with E.I.C. heart logo, dated 1778 and BRANDER across the center of the lock plate. Three generations of Brander worked from 1690 until 1825 and became a highly respected Company which received many Government contracts. This fine weapon was found in Nepal in 2003 where it was probably shipped to after 1816 in aid from East India Company.

Of very substantial construction this must have been considered truly massive 250 years ago when mankind was considerably smaller in stature. The rear of the barrel also clearly marked with a large E.I.C. Heart Logo. Lock functions correctly, holding at half cock and firing at full.

Fully cleaned in great condition, ready to display!
