Original British East India Company Flintlock Officer Fusil with Socket Bayonet - Dated 1778

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This was recovered from the ancient palace of Lagan Silikhana in Kathmandu, Nepal. It has been fully cleaned and restored to a very nice condition.

This fusil with a.65 bore (pistol caliber) would normally have been carried by an Officer so his ammunition worked with both his pistol and musket. The lock is marked HENSHAW and across the lock's tail is the East India Company Heart logo with 1778.

The Butt has a large branded Company marking of 7/16 and the brass butt plate is marked E/7. The barrel is 31.5" in length and all the mounts are brass.

Included is a fitted socket bayonet showing Crown over D proof mark on the 11.5" blade and it measures 16" in overall length. The bayonet comes with a very rare original brass mounted leather scabbard.

Essentially this is a miniature Brown Bess manufactured .65 bore instead of .75 bore and a 31.5 barrel instead of a 39" barrel.

A really nice little Fusil bearing an early date and ready to display.
