  • Original Item: We are unsure of the era, but believe these to be manufactured around 1900. Dragoons and light cavalry used these saddle straps in order to affix their carbine to the saddle while on horseback. On the march, a light dragoon would unclip the carbine from his carbine sling, then wrap and buckle the strap around the wrist of the carbine, securing it against his thigh. They are used mainly with butt down carbine buckets to keep things secure on the full gallop.

Now, the only way you can get them is custom made through a horse milliner.

Approximately 9" in overall length and 2" wide. Buckles are approximately 2 1/2" by 1 3/8" on the outer side.
