Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. From a time of smugglers and bootlegs comes this handsome, circa 1790-1815, flintlock pistol manufactured by LACY & CO, LONDON. This brass barreled blunderbuss pistol has a seven inch barrel and measures twelve inches in overall length. Features include a plain walnut grip with unmarked silver escutcheon and a six inch sprung loaded folding bayonet to underside of barrel.
The brass receiver bears the maker's markings to the left side and the number 2 to the right side amidst a stand of flags, etc.
The bayonet is released by drawing the trigger guard towards the butt once the weapon has been fired. The top of the brass cannon style barrel is legibly but faintly marked-

Apparently the port city we now know as Dover in Kent was spelled with an OR’ on the end in the late 18th century.
This is a fine condition quality flintlock pistol with spring bayonet originating from government service over 200 years ago, amazing.
