Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Set. This is an impressive British Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders mannequin display assembled to represent the regiment around the period of the Second Boer War. The display combines an original British Highland regimental tunic with Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders buttons and collar insignia, together with an original period blue-enamel water bottle, while the pith helmet, kilt equipment, sporran, footwear, gaiters, hose, and other accoutrements are later reproductions.
The mannequin measures 78” tall with all pieces on, and it is quite an old mannequin with some visible damage, and a mustache to complete that highlander’s look!
The items include:
- Original British blue enamel canteen with wool cover and leather rigging strap. Still hanging on the back from the strap, with cork intact.
- Original period British Highlanders uniform jacket with correct Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders buttons and collar badges.
- Reproduction pith helmet with Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders badge and added cloth side pieces.
- Reproduction white leather rigging.
- Reproduction white bag.
- Reproduction sporran pouch with Argyll & Sutherland badge, looks great but is a reproduction.
- Reproduction shoes, gaiters, and plaid socks.
- Older mannequin measuring 78” tall with some breakage in the fingers and weakness in other places. The mannequin will display fine leaning up against something, but it will not stand on its own.
This is a good representative set made up of mostly reproduction parts with some original pieces mixed in. It will work great as a placeholder in your collection as an all-original set would run you at least $4-5,000! The mannequin is included with this example.
