  • Original Items: One-of-a-kind. In 1941, the British Houses of Parliament sustained some Air Raid damage, to the great dismay of the nation. To increase morale the rubble from the original old stone work was immediately re-purposed into an assortment of items and offered for sale.

Here is an impressive set of stone bookends made from some of this old stonework. Each of the two pieces bears a two and a half inch wide cast metal medallion authenticating the origin. Each stone measures 5" W x 6 H.

One medallion has an embossed molding depicting the "Big Ben" clock tower that reads:

THIS STONE CAME FROM THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT

The second medallion has an embossed molding showing the image of Winston Churchill that reads:

    WINSTON CHURCHILL 1941

Very nicely executed this is an authentic set that has become extremely hard to find on the market today. Totally original and correct.
