Original Item: One of a Kind. From an old English Collection here is an early, circa 1755-1760 Regimental Priming powder horn marked with a large CROWN over 45. The 45th Regiment of Foot was raise in 1741 under Colonel Warburton. They took part in the Siege of LOUISBOURG in 1758 and the Battle of the Plains of Abraham at QUEBEC in 1759. The remained in Canada for 20 years then took part in the American Revolutionary War 1776 - 1783. After this they were re-designated the 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment of Foot in 1784.
The horn flask is flat sided and measures 4 1/2" X 3" and is surmounted with the tiniest spout for the very fine priming powder for flintlock musket, pistol or cannon.
