Original British 18th Century 1 Pounder Falconet Bronze Cannon

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic 18th century bronze cannon tube with a beautiful deep patina. It was cast with classic English 18th century production characteristics indicating production around 1780. It has a 2" bore meaning it fired a one pound cannon ball. According tot he Tower of London One pounder Cannon are referred to as FALCONETS, the tube measures 33" overall and is 6 1/2" wide at the trunnions and is of classic proportions. This was most certainly would have been mounted as a swivel gun or on a rolling wooden ship's mount.

Offered totally untouched and unrestored by us this 18th century beautiful bronze 1lb cannon we believe to have been of English manufacture, then sent to India and recovered in Kathmandu Nepal over 20 years ago. The breech bears native engravings applied long after this gun left the foundry.  The quality of the bronze casting, template, and dimensions indicate that this is a classic British Falconet with the original British markings removed. Touch hole is clear, bore is in excellent condition, overall very solid and sound.
