CALCUTTA

The brass hand guard which would normally have the VR cypher is marked NEPAUL complete with a matching totally original all brass tropical scabbard. The 33" blade is fully engraved with scrolls and Nepalese Royal symbols. Scabbard bears some dents which do not show up in the photographs, and blade engraving embossing showing just minor wear.

Very probably supplied after the Ruler of Nepal visited The Great Sepoy Rebellion, known as the Indian Mutiny of 1857 to 1859. Offered in great display condition this is a very rare British contractor made sword perfect to add to any British Victorian collection.
