Original Brazilian WWI M1908 Artillery Short Sword with Leather Scabbard and Belt Frog

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This very nice Brazilian M1908 Artillery Short Sword was most likely released in 1976 from military stores in Rio De Janeiro, along with a lot of other now obsolete edged weapons. It is in very good condition, with only storage wear, and little sign of actual use in the field.

The 15 1/2 inch blade's surface is clean and bright, with only a bit of light staining in areas. It has been sharpened at arsenal, and the main edge is still relatively sharp, with a few tiny dents. As is correct for these swords, the blade is totally unmarked, though there are some number markings on the cross guard: 941 and 4591 on the top, and F 1 on the bottom. The hilt has checkered wooden grip panels, finished with shellac and retained by two screws with split nuts. Overall length of the sword is 20 5/8 inches.

The included steel fitted leather scabbard is in great shape, with the finish on the fittings and leather almost completely intact. There is very little sign of use or wear. The frog button is marked F 1, matching one of the markings on the cross guard. The scabbard is held by a very nice leather frog, which is in very good condition.

A very nice example of this hard to find short sword. Ready to display!
