  • Original Item: Only One Available. We just received this lovely example along with about 200 other guns, from a collection that sat in an attic for close to 100 years. It dates from the 1880's is marked:- Marked FINE STEEL on the barrel strap. The chamber area of the barrels is definitely Damascus steel, probably welded onto a regular steel barrel. The chamber area experiences the highest pressure, and is most in need of the extra strength an flexibility.

The gun is in excellent shape, and bores are clear, with some oxidation peppering. The action opens by moving the under the barrel lever to the right which allows the gun to break for loading. This reveals the serial number of 15662 on both the frame and barrels. These are also marked with both the "Tower of Liège" proof mark as well as E / L G / * in an oval, indicating manufacture and inspection in Liège, Belgium. This small country, which only gained indepedence in the early 19th century, had long been a firearms production powerhouse, with Liège being the center of manufacturing.

The shotgun, sometimes called a scatter gun, appears to be in 10 gauge / bore. The butt plate is missing, easily replaced if so desired. This scatter Gun was probably shortened at some time for use on a Stage Coach or Railway Car. It has been fitted with substantial open sights, front and back possibly for use with Slugs. Not a weapon you want to be facing!

In sound condition, Antique and plenty of Romance, ready to display!
