Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce WWI Austro-Hungarian Pioneer entrenching tool/spade shovel, with a correct serrated edge, rarely seen on the market today. This example came to us from the collection of David F. Machnicki, the author of At Arm's Length Trench Clubs and Knives.
The spade has a serrated edge to one side, and there are no maker’s marks we can find. The handle has also been worn down on both sides to provide a better grip, and the original lanyard is still retained in the hole at the pommel.
The spade measures 21 ½” including the handle.
An outstanding example, ready for further research and display!
