Item Description
Original Item: Only one Available. Austria had amassed a considerable Empire by the middle of the 19th Century, extending to Hungary and the Balkans. This necessitated a need for a Naval presence for the land-locked country, which previously had not had a large one. For armaments, they purchased Belgian-made Naval Percussion pistols such as this one, based of the Dutch/Belgian Flintlock design of the early 1800's.
There is no provision for ramrod, the mounts are all of brass and the grade of original manufacture is really quite high. The top of the barrel is marked with the "Perron" Tower of Liège near the cap nipple, and it also has the standard E / L G / * in an oval, also for Liège. The large lock plate is completely devoid of markings, often seen on these contract pistols made in Belgium.
Used and scuffed, the lock still functions correctly, and it is still in a pleasant state for display. The lanyard ring on the butt plate is unfortunately missing, and there definitely are some small repairs to the wooden stock.
Ready to display, an unusual weapon.
