Original Item: Only One Available. This is quite remarkable! Built in SALZBURG, AUSTRIA by the Gun Smith J. STEGEL in the 1830's or 1840's. This small bore Percussion
rifle was intended for PARLOR Shooting in doors as a family pastime to educate the entire family on how to safely handle firearms. In the form of a SCHUETZEN Rifle, the gun is equipped with an elaborate wood stock with a large intricate butt plate. It is fitted with a SET TRIGGER enclosed in an elaborate steel trigger guard. It is fitted with a TANG rear sight and the side hammer mechanism has the hammer joined by a steel linkage to a firing nipple set inside the barrel 21" further down the barrel where the "true" barrel starts and measures just over 6" to the muzzle.
There is an oval hole in the underside of the barrel giving access to the nipple for re-capping. An extraordinary system We've never seen before. Fully operational and in just lovely cleaned condition, ready to display!
