Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely example of a pewter inkwell with its original glass insert, dating to the Revolutionary War period. The inkwell has five small holes for the placement of a quill, and this example comes with a modern quill for display or even use.
The inkwell retains the very rare glass insert which would have held the ink. The insert has some small hairline cracks as shown but is in greta shape overall.
The inkwell itself measures 3” in diameter and is about 2” tall. The middle section has three raised bands as shown. There is some wear and denting along the top edge.
A very rare piece to find in any condition, and an excellent complement to any Colonial period collection.
