The Jezail (sometimes Jezzail from the Pashto language,Pashto: جزائل) is a simple, cost-efficient and typically handmade muzzle-loading long arm commonly used in the Middle East region in the past. These were all highly personalized, so no two were alike. The styles varied quite a bit based on the region they were from.
This is a classic Afghani example, constructed using a genuine East India Company Brown Bess, Third Model, flintlock mechanism with ring cock. There are traces of the EIC Rampart Lion logo. This was most likely removed from another gun, and used to make the Jezail. The barrel has some engraved designs across the top and a .

It retains its sheet brass cladding on the stock and has the classic Jezail "hook butt" stock of which is heavily adorned with sheet brass designs. Extensively used by the PUTAN tribesmen on the North West Frontier, near the Khyber pass into what is today Afghanistan. Remember the Movie THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING with Sean Connery and Michael Caine? A favorite of most red blooded American men.
Not offered in mechanically sound condition, the cock will pull back and "fire" but the trigger has issues and needs service. Very attractive and very nice at very likely 200+ years old!
