  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely patinated OTTOMAN flintlock holster pistol made to follow European lines, which we believe originates from the Kurdish region based on information we received from the previous owner. It features a lovely carved stock, with all brass mountings, and a good amount of silver wire inlay around the grip area. The lock, hammer and frizzen are covered in engravings and the 12" barrel also shows lots of engraved and embossed designs, though they are now relatively worn. There looks to be a pewter ornament on the back of the grip, which may have been added later. Often referred to as a Mediterranean Pirate's Flintlock Pistol this example is well above that, and must have been very impressive in its prime.

The brass butt cap has the usual long ears, and the trigger guard goes almost all the way to the butt cap. The engraved lock is nicely decorated with floral designs, including the swan neck cock. Similar designs are seen on the barrel, now relatively hard to see due to wear. The pistol measures 19 1/2" in over all length, around the length we typically see. The lock is functional, though it will fire at half cock with strong trigger pull, and the main spring is very strong, so cocking it takes some effort.

Copying the western Style, the pistol displays a "faux" ramrod which is not intended for use, though it may have had the end replaced at some point. The actual ramrod was usually carried on a leather thong carried around the neck, so that it could not be dropped during reloading at sea or on horseback.

Dating probably from the early 1800's this is really a nice example. Ready to display!!
