  • Original Item: Only One Available. Mounted on a 25 1/2" linen covered wooden haft, this Indian War Axe has a truly wicked head! It has a rounded cutting edge measuring 8 1/4" in diameter and on the reverse the most menacing curved spike that could penetrate armor and chain mail, measuring  3 1/2" in length. This is definitely not something designed just for show. The entire crescent moon shaped head is decorated with fairly primitive line engravings, common for edged weapons of the period.

This axe dates from the time of the British East India Company's conquest of all the small Indian States in the first half of the 1800's. Shows wear to the linen haft covering, having definitely seen use. The head is definitely loose on the haft, due to wear and wood shrinkage.

Impressive and ready to display, just as we received it.
